Preventing and Responding to Sexual Harassment Claims in the #MeToo Era

September 19, 2018

1:30 p.m. - 2:45 p.m.

Employers are already feeling the impact of the #MeToo movement; both in an increase in sexual harassment claims and an increased pressure to respond and settle such claims quickly. It is becoming clear that doing the bare minimum required by law is no longer sufficient to either prevent or respond to sexual harassment claims in the workplace. Melissa Whitehead is a partner with the national law firm, Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP, and focuses her practice on labor and employment law. In addition to defending employers against claims filed in both courts and administrative matters, Melissa spends much of her time advising and training employers; increasingly on the topic of sexual harassment in the workplace. This seminar will go beyond just the minimum requirements for training and responding to claims of sexual harassment and will focus largely on what employers can (and should) do to cultivate a culture of respect and dignity; a culture where sexual harassment simply is not tolerated.
