Driving Business Results through Fearless HR

September 18, 2018

8:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.

As HR’s role in organizations strengthens, there is an increasing need for HR leaders to step up, build upon the profession’s past, embrace HR’s purpose to drive business results; and be more data-driven, a lead-time ahead and a force multiplier.  These are the key themes in David Forman’s best-selling book “Fearless HR,” and this session focuses specifically on how HR can directly impact business results.
Using the latest research, industry-leading examples and practical tools, David presents ten different ways in which HR practices save time, reduce costs and improve productivity.  These HR Levers must be conveyed in the language of the business—money—for them to be fully appreciated by other business leaders.  Among the HR Levers presented are:

  • Turnover of high performers
  • Productivity by engagement level
  • Value of internal hires
  • Costs of vacant key positions
  • Managing poor performers
  • Global staffing mix
  • Proficiency curve
  • Innovation and the Vitality Index
  • Power of professional networks

Speaker: David Forman

David C Forman is the author of Fearless HR and former Chief Learning Officer of The Human Capital Institute, a position he held for over a decade.  Beginning with the Human Capital Strategist course in 2004, David has designed, developed and taught the major HCI courses taken by thousands of HR professionals throughout the world.

In 2015, David authored “Fearless HR—Driving Business Results,” and this book has quickly become one of the most influential in the profession.  Dave Ulrich wrote the foreword and praised the book’s substance and perspective.  Amazon reviews give the book 5 stars and it is being used in universities, businesses and nonprofits all over the world.  David has emphasized the key Fearless HR themes in his widely read HRPS blog, LinkedIn posts, numerous conference presentations and HCI conference key note sessions.

Prior to HCI, David worked with SHRM to create materials to support the launch of the new GPHR certification program in 2002. He spent 25 years in the training industry, working with large global organizations to improve the knowledge, skills and performance of their people. Major clients include FedEx, IBM, DuPont, Microsoft, SAP, American Express, PwC, Ford, Prudential, Apple, and Allstate Insurance.  In 1984, David had the unique opportunity to work with Apple on the release of the Macintosh; and several years later to help IBM streamline and cross-train over 22,000 manufacturing employees.
