THE PRESENTATION
The presentation will begin with an overview of trade secret laws, including a detailed discussion of the California Uniform Trade Secrets Act, highlights of federal Defend Trade Secrets Act and applicable California Business and Professions Code torts. The second portion will cover recommended workplace practices for California employers and the use of agreements to protect trade secrets and deter trade secret misappropriation. We will conclude with a discussion of remedies available to an employer and an assessment of the balance between an employer’s need to monitor employees and an employee’s rights under the National Labor Relations Act.

Presented By Treaver Hodson and Lexee Asterlin of Palmer Kazanjian Whol Hodson LLP
Mr. Hodson is a partner at Palmer Kazanjian Wohl Hodson LLP. He represents management before federal and state courts and administrative agencies in all aspects of employment law litigation. His representation has included such areas of expertise as wrongful termination, unlawful discrimination and harassment, retaliation, wage and hour, workplace violence, leaves of absence, unfair competition, misappropriation of trade secrets, breach of contract and defamation. Mr. Hodson also represents management in all aspects of labor law before the National Labor Relations Board and similar state agencies including representation elections, unfair labor practice charges and hearings, collective bargaining negotiations, contract arbitrations and picketing and strikes.
Alexandra Asterlin is an associate who joined Palmer Kazanjian Wohl Hodson LLP in 2016. Ms. Asterlin represents local and national businesses in courts throughout California and in matters involving the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH), and the California Division of Labor Standards Enforcement (DLSE). Additionally, Ms. Asterlin litigates matters involving contracts, business torts, and unfair competition.
