Attendees will be provided with some strategic planning data, considerations about the near to medium-term economic future, and how labor markets (both supply and demand) may change in the region due to macro and regional economic forces.  Discussions of housing, commercial real estate, and other socioeconomic issues will also be part of the presentation.

Dr. Sanjay Varshney

Dr. Sanjay Varshney is the Faculty Director of the EMBA program at California State University, Sacramento. He was the previous Dean of the College of Business at California State University, Sacramento.  He has also worked at the University of San Francisco, and previously served as the Dean of the Business School at State University of New York in Utica. He earned an undergraduate degree in Accounting and Financial Management from Bombay University, a Master's degree in Economics from the University of Cincinnati and a doctorate in Finance from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.

Dr. Varshney's research interests include market microstructure, new securities issuance and corporate valuation, and his publications have been included in numerous academic and practitioner journals including Journal of Economics and Finance, Journal of Management Research, Studies in Economics and Finance, Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics, Contemporary Finance Digest, Advances in Financial Economics, and the Journal of Applied Business Research.

Dr. Varshney has also served as a financial consultant for leading Wall Street firms and is Partner and Principal in an asset management company providing customized portfolio management for high net worth individuals, trusts, pension programs, and corporations. He is also Partner and Principal of Varshney & Associates that provides management consulting services to a variety of clients including the healthcare industry. Services provided include financial feasibility studies, economic impact studies, and firm valuation including helping firms complete an initial public offering of stock.
