SAHRA MIT PRESENTER EVENT
Understanding Hiring from the Employer’s Side:
Applicant Tracking Systems and Assessments
with Jan Foster, Performance Resources
Who should attend: Job seekers or others who would like to understand what happens when they apply online and how assessments are used in the hiring process. What will be covered: • Jan will do an abbreviated demo of the employer side of the applicant tracking system (ATS -online hiring system) and share in general how other ATS systems use information (each system has different capabilities, of course). • She will provide an overview of a job fit assessment to help you understand critical factors to be considered when interviewing or hiring. She’ll discuss how assessments are used by employers (again highly variable). • Q&A related to hiring processes and job hunting based on her personal experiences. Main takeaways: • Demystifying what happens on the employer side as it relates to technologies used. • Answers to questions about assessments. • Answers to questions about the hiring process in general. About the presenter:
Jan Foster started a professional networking group for professionals in career transition in Portland during the DotCom bust when she found herself looking for the next stage in her next career. The group has been in existence now for over 15 years. She’s been through several job transitions and has great empathy for the challenges of finding the next stage in one’s career. In late 2008, she became self-employed and joined Performance Resources as a provider of best-of-breed tools for hiring and developing employees and leaders. She provides an applicant tracking system, several integrity and job fit assessments that employers use for selection, 360s, and other assessment tools. Jan is co-founder of the SAHRA strategic HR group and has been involved in HR and training and development organizations for years. Prior to this business, Jan spent 18 years with Xerox selling high-end digital printing systems. She then sold e-commerce and web development in the late 90s/early 2000’s and development of custom, corporate web-based training programs in the early 2000s.
