2017 Annual Law Update
Start 2017 in the know with the SAHRA Annual Employment Law Update! The presentation will provide summaries of all the new legislative changes and significant case law affecting labor and employment matters. In addition, you will be kicking off the year with 3.5 (California) re-certification hours towards PHR, SPHR and GPHR recertification through HR Certification Institute, and 3.5 SHRM Professional Development Credits.

Speakers:
Melissa Whitehead is an associate in the firm’s Labor and Employment practice group. She represents clients in federal and state court in a wide variety of general liability and employment matters including wrongful termination, wage and hour, FEHA claims, and EEOC claims. Melissa also provides advice and counsel to employers on a variety of topics, including workplace policies and practices, as well as personnel decisions, and is available to assist in workplace investigations. As a former Assistant Public Defender, Melissa has tried many jury trials and has extensive experience in negotiating cases to resolution. Melissa also creates and presents educational training materials to employers regarding employment law issues and updates. Melissa was listed as one of Northern California’s 2016 Rising Stars in Super Lawyers Magazine.
Kristianne Seargeant- Prior to Ms. Seargeant's legal career, she climbed the ranks at the Sacramento Fire Department from Firefighter to Fire Captain to Battalion Chief. Over her 12-year career, she was a 2-term Regional Fire Academy Drill Instructor, In-Service Training Officer, and a decorated member of FEMA’s Urban Search and Rescue Team and the California Office of Emergency Services’ Water Rescue Team. Using her experience as an union employee turned supervisor, Ms. Seargeant customizes her approach to provide practical guidance to her clients. She represents both public and private sector clients with such matters as employment litigation, collective bargaining, arbitrations and administrative agency appeals, as well as performs workplace investigations and provides in-house training and general advice and counsel.

All registrations are considered pending until payment is received by SAHRA. Confirmations will be sent upon receipt of payment. If payment has not been received in the office at least seventy-two (72) business hours in advance of the event, your registration will be considered canceled.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations must be received in writing to the SAHRA office 72 business hours prior to the event in order to receive a refund.
