When a threat or concern of violence first surfaces in your organization it can overwhelming. It’s even more complicated when the threat is not clear or involves behavior that is just plain “weird” but not yet obviously a threat. This presentation will explain the steps involved with conducting workplace assessments, provide a framework for categorizing threatening behavior and give an overview of several response strategies.

SPEAKER
Hector Alvarez is passionate about protecting our communities from the threat of violence. He is the founder of Alvarez Associates and the Violence Prevention Academy, a security risk management and training firm specializing in violence prevention.
Having been both a security director for a major national critical infrastructure and a city police officer, he has built over 25 years of experience in the field of violence prevention.
Alvarez continues to serve his local community as a volunteer police officer, which he has done for almost 10 years. He was recognized as Reserve Officer of the year on two separate occasions.
