This workshop will explore a wide range of off-the-clock work issues in depth, particularly as they arise in an increasingly technology dependent world. We will answer common questions about off-the-clock work, such as:
- What do I do if I find out an employee is emailing his or her supervisor off-hours?
- Do we have to pay for the time employees spend logging in to their computers at the start of the day?
- How do I make sure our telecommuters are logging all their time and taking their breaks?
- When a non-exempt employee goes on a business trip, what constitutes “work”?
We will also explore the Supreme Court’s recent decision regarding security checks in Amazon.com warehouses (Integrity Staffing Solutions v. Busk) and what it means for employees in California.
