Human Resources professionals and attorneys have a lot in common. They care about their clients. They know the law. They want to do their best. Many times however, Human Resources professionals and attorneys play different roles in addressing organizational issues.
In this session, Jennifer Shaw, a nationally acclaimed employment law attorney, will discuss the roles HR and Legal should play in addressing workplace challenges, when HR should push back and not necessarily follow the attorney’s advice, and how Human Resources professionals and attorneys can work collaboratively while maintaining their independent prospective.
Learning Objectives:
· Understand your role as an HR professional when working with legal counsel
· Understand when the needs of your organization may prompt an employer’s legal advice
· Gain the confidence to bring your HR perspective to the table
