A major challenge for organizations today is how to adapt to the rapid merger of innovation, technology and change, and manage the resulting impact on the way employees communicate and work together. Every employer that utilizes computer technology faces potential harm from a variety of security risks, such as hackers and viruses. We witness this fact daily in news reports of the cyber-attacks hitting major banks, retail stores and numerous other organizations. Because of increased reliance on computer technologies to perform its functions, HRM in particular has a special responsibility to help protect against harm from security breaches and privacy violations.
This webinar equips HR professionals with new competencies for managing HR activities reliant on computer technologies, including:
- awareness of security vulnerabilities of jobs that use computer technologies for communication,
transactions, data storage and transfer of information;
- understanding of how to update policies and procedures regarding proper use of social
media in the workplace and HRM software; and,
- ability to be a strategic partner with IT professionals to regularly assess HRM risks, minimize security
breaches and cyber threats
Participants also have an opportunity to share experiences regarding computer technology issues relating to HRM.

Dan Van Bogaert, J.D. is a highly regarded adjunct professor who has extensive experience in teaching at the university level , and training human resources professionals throughout California. Mr. Van Bogaert is also a regular contributing member of SAHRA’s seminars and webinars.
The content of this webinar is the product of a one-year research study involving objective surveys of HR professionals in different industries, and with the assistance from student interns.
