This program will discuss key strategies for disciplining and terminating underperforming employees in California. In particular, the program will address recent changes such as SB 497’s new presumption of retaliation for whistleblowers, and other new impediments to disciplining underperforming employees. The presentation will focus on practical examples of means to guide the disciplinary process toward acceptable results while minimizing risk.

Christopher Onstott, Kronick Moskovitz Tiedemann & Girard
Chris is an attorney and a shareholder at Kronick Moskovitz. He works out of the firm’s offices in Roseville and Sacramento. Chris heads the firm’s business litigation practice group. He also provides legal advice and counsel to numerous employers throughout California. He has defended various employers in wage-and-hour class actions, as well as discrimination and harassment claims. He has been recognized in the Top Lawyers edition of Sacramento Magazine and has been identified as a Northern California Super Lawyer for several years. He currently serves on the board for the Roseville Chamber of Commerce. Prior to joining Kronick Moskovitz in 2005, Chris worked at the Los Angeles-based law firm of O’Melveny and Myers. He also completed a one-year clerkship for Judge Walter K. Stapleton on the United States Court of Appeals, Third Circuit.
