This presentation is a primer on appropriate LGBTQ terminology and foundational knowledge in order to handle complaints by LGBTQ employees.  This presentation will also identify common issues that LGBTQ employees might face and provide tips on how to investigate complaints of bias against LGBTQ folks.

Tracy Law (they/them), Supervising Attorney at Ellis Investigations, serves as an impartial investigator of sensitive and complex workplace complaints. Tracy conducts workplace investigations into a variety of workplace issues, including claims of sexual harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and general misconduct. Tracy has investigated complaints involving all levels of organizational hierarchy, including C-suite executives, police leadership, and government officials. Prior to joining Ellis Investigations, Tracy worked for a prominent plaintiff-side employment law firm in Sacramento, California. 

In their spare time, Tracy serves as an Adjunct Professor for Tulane University Law School, and sits on the Diversity and Inclusion Committee for the Association of Workplace Investigators (AWI). 

Tracy received their Juris Doctorate from Tulane University Law School, graduating with honors, and their bachelor’s degree from the University of British Columbia.
