Session Four, June 30th

Navigating Leaves of Absence and Attendance Policies in California

Presented by Larry Kazanjian, Palmer Kazanjian

Two major employment law concepts that employers should understand in application are leaves of absence laws and attendance policies. While employers are provided some discretion in how they provide for employee leaves of absences and in implementation of their attendance policies, an employer’s right and method in how these concepts are applied to employees must be in compliance with California and federal labor and employment laws. Therefore, these leave and attendance policies must be carefully crafted to avoid violating applicable laws and employee rights, including consideration of antidiscrimination and antiretaliation provisions found in California’s leave laws. Please join us in navigating leaves of absence laws and lawful attendance policies to better understand legal concepts that would allow employers to proactively comply with California and federal laws.
