On September 27, 2022, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed Senate Bill 1162, a broad pay transparency bill requiring employers to include pay ranges in all job advertisements effective January 1, 2023. The bill also requires employers to submit expanded annual pay data reports that include pay data on employees hired through labor contractors to the California Civil Rights Department (CRD) beginning May 10, 2023. Lukas Clary is a shareholder in Weintraub Tobin’s Labor and Employment and Litigation practice groups. Lukas has experience representing clients in all aspects of employment litigation. He regularly handles claims involving allegations of workplace discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, unpaid overtime and wages, missed meal and rest periods, and class actions. Lukas also regularly counsels employers on compliance and litigation avoidance strategies, including leave management and the interactive process associated with accommodating employees with disabilities. He also helps his clients craft employee handbooks and employment policies. Jennel Fernandez is HR Director at Weintraub Tobin. Jennel brings more than fifteen years of HR experience focused on recruitment and employee relations to her position as the Director of Human Resources at Weintraub Tobin. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from California State University, Sacramento, and is working toward her Masters of Jurisprudence in Labor and Employment law at Tulane University. She is the mother of two young kids and is an active volunteer in their school community.
