California employers are required to comply with numerous laws but particularly when it comes to wage and hour claims. This presentation will cover Class and PAGA actions with a specific emphasis on wage and hour claims. Employers will be provided an overview of the major claims that employers face in class and PAGA actions and how to comply with meal and rest period requirement. The presentation will also go over PAGA actions and how penalties are calculated and any recent developments in wage and hour law that employers need to be aware of.
SPEAKER Alexandra Asterlin is a Partner at Palmer Kazanjian, and joined the firm in 2016. Ms. Asterlin represents local and national businesses in courts throughout California and in matters involving the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH), and the California Division of Labor Standards Enforcement (DLSE). Ms. Asterlin litigates matters involving contracts, business torts, and unfair competition. Ms. Asterlin has extensive experience conducting workplace investigations, including those involving claims of harassment and discrimination or retaliation, whistleblower claims, wage and hour violations, workplace violence, employee misconduct, and poor performance.
