Weintraub | Tobin

Lukas Claryis a shareholder in Weintraub Tobin’s Labor and Employment and Litigation practice groups.  Lukas has experience representing clients in all aspects of employment litigation.  He regularly handles claims involving allegations of workplace discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, unpaid overtime and wages, missed meal and rest periods, and class actions. Lukas also regularly counsels employers on compliance and litigation avoidance strategies, including leave management and the interactive process associated with accommodating employees with disabilities.  He also helps his clients craft employee handbooks and employment policies.

Brooke Kozak is an accomplished and well-respected investigator and counselor.  She has served as the lead investigator on a variety of complex and sensitive workplace investigations involving high-level executives, elected officials, and multiple respondents, among other challenging circumstances.

Brooke regularly investigates allegations of harassment, discrimination, retaliation, failure to accommodate, workplace violence, unfair hiring practices, and general employee misconduct. She also advises employers in all areas of employment law, and facilitates training sessions for employees on key topics such as harassment prevention, respect and professionalism at work, and conducting effective internal investigations.  Brooke is a certified Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and an Association of Workplace Investigators (AWI) Certificate Holder.

Susana Solano advises employers and management regarding issues arising out of the employee-employer relationship, including the prevention of employment discrimination, retaliation, harassment, wrongful termination, and wage and hour violations. She assists employers in developing policies and practices that comply with state or federal law and preparing employee handbooks, agreements to arbitrate, class action waivers or employment contracts. She also offers training on wage and hour compliance, medical leaves, accommodations and prevention of discrimination and harassment in the workplace. She is fluent in Spanish and has experience drafting policies and contracts in Spanish and conducting interviews of monolingual Spanish witnesses.

She defends employers before various administrative agencies, such as the Labor Commissioner and Department of Fair Employment and Housing.
