When choosing to hire a new employee, there are many considerations and legal obligations that must be addressed behind the scenes before entering into an employment relationship. Having a clear understanding of the intricacies involved in the contractual elements of the employment relationship can help prevent future legal claims and is fundamental to the longevity of a business or organization. Join us to learn how to establish proper employment relationships within your organization. This presentation will address at-will employment, employee classifications, employee handbook acknowledgements, compensation agreements, and many other sub-topics. There are many factors to be considered and decided upon when entering into employment relationships, but with the right tools and knowledge, these relationships don’t have to be difficult create or maintain. 


SPEAKER

Alexandra Asterlin is a Partner at Palmer Kazanjian, and joined the firm in 2016. Ms. Asterlin represents local and national businesses in courts throughout California and in matters involving the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH), and the California Division of Labor Standards Enforcement (DLSE). Ms. Asterlin litigates matters involving contracts, business torts, and unfair competition. Ms. Asterlin has extensive experience conducting workplace investigations, including those involving claims of harassment and discrimination or retaliation, whistleblower claims, wage and hour violations, workplace violence, employee misconduct, and poor performance.
