Introduction to Non-Profit Leadership & Governance

This course introduces the learner to non-profit organizations and the concepts of leadership and governance. The course provides an in-depth look at the roles and responsibilities of boards of directors and the factors that influence how effective the impact they have on shaping the success of the organization they govern. This course is intended to develop the learner’s capability to act as an agent for positive change showing leadership and governance effectiveness.

Julie Worley has more than 20 years of human resource experience. She is a past president of the Sacramento Area Human Resource Association, where she has also served as President and Vice President, Professional Development. She holds three industry designations: Senior Professional in Human Resources (SHPR), Professional in Human Resources - California (PHRca) and Society for Human Resource Management Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP). Julie received her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.

Julie is also an instructor of HR Certification Institute certification preparation courses for HR professionals for UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education program. She is a trusted voice in the HR community and has been featured on local radio and state and national publications, addressing topics such as workplace violence, paternity leave, and the Fair Labor Standards Act to name a few.


This program will be approved for 1 SHRM professional development credit and 1 HRCI Business credit.
