OPENING KEYNOTE - 8:15 AM
You're a KEEPR!
I will be presenting a framework that I created that HR and people leaders can deploy to increasing engagement and retention. I have curated steps that pull from research from Clifton Strengths, Stephen Covey Trust & Inspire Leadership and other evidence based approaches that provide leaders a plug and play methodology for creating teams that are inspired to stay.
The KEEPR framework is K (know your strengths and derailers) E (engage/mobilize your strengths and craft your work around those) E (enlist others, building trust and connections) P (prioritization and focus) R (rank up and upskill).

Leaders will walk away with not only an easy to remember, step by step engagement methodology but also a stronger sense for what inspires THEM to stay and how to model behaviors that create an environment that inspire their people to stay.

Tapping into the Power of Your Most Overlooked Employee Retention Tool: Effective Performance Evaluation

Most organizations are desperately looking for solutions to the current "Great Resignation," scrambling to engage and develop their current talent. They are trying everything from flashy new rewards programs to huge merit bonuses. Trouble is, these initiatives are often developed blindly, without truly understanding their employees' wants and needs, and they end up being band-aid fixes, rather than solutions to deeper underlying problems. One excellent, overlooked way to take a deep dive into understanding your employees is setting up a truly effective evaluation structure that is a two way street between the employer and the employee. In this session, Performance Evaluation Expert, and CEO of Express Evaluations, Albert Foster, will teach attendees the key components of a successful evaluation structure that most employers are missing, why good performance evaluations are a critical component of employee retention, and how to put them into place at their organization.
Albert Foster, CEO Express Evaluations
Albert Foster is an HR professional and the Founder and CEO of Express Evaluations. His passion in HR is to help employees find joy in their employment and to help employers retain their hard-earned talent. Albert earned a Master’s in Human Resources in 2012 and has been in the HR world for the past 15 years as both an HR consultant and an HR director. While working as the HR director of a special service district with about 500 employees he was tasked with finding a new performance management system. After several demos it became clear that a product didn’t exist in the current market that encompassed both the effectiveness, flexibility and affordability for his company, so he decided to create his own.

Stop Serving Sh*t Sandwiches: Offer Better Feedback to Bridge the Gap

You likely engage in a constructive criticism strategy called the Sh*t Sandwich. Do you recognize this recipe? Bottom bun: Give praise; The meat: Pile on the feedback and criticism; Top bun: Give more praise. Most professionals know when they are being served a Sh*t Sandwich, so let’s take them off the menu. Giving authentic feedback is tricky, especially for HR professionals who are often responsible for coordinating evaluation and employees’ effectiveness. How can you inform, support, and empower people better? In this interactive session, you’ll learn the art and neuroscience of feedback conversations that move the work forward by learning:
- What’s at stake in every interaction and how to show up to connect better, especially with someone that struggles with feedback.
 - A new conversation paradigm, rooted in neuroscience, that fuels better feedback, collaboration, and outcomes.
 - Bridge the Gap’s framework that creates conditions for success.
 - Actionable, tangible tools to implement immediately to foster trusting and respectful relationships.

Our professional relationships critically matter. Quality communication places too much emphasis on language to do the hard work. Words often fail and there is a better way to connect. Bridge the Gap tools can positively shift engagement between people, and in teams, especially when the Sh*t Sandwich threatens the fabric of important relationships.
