Christina Bauders

Meeting and Event Manager

What’s your role with SAHRA and how long have you worked for the association?

I am the Meeting and Event Manager at SAHRA. I just started this role on July 16, 2018.

What did you do prior to working with SAHRA?

Prior to SAHRA, I was the Director of Events at the California Independent Oil Marketers Association (CIOMA). I worked at CIOMA for 12 years managing all of their events including their annual conference, the Pacific Oil Conference.

What are some of the highlights and challenges you face in your role?

Highlights: I enjoy working on events. It is so exciting to watch my vision come to life and have attendees benefit from the hard work that goes into creating an event.

Challenges: The most challenging obstacle is the budget. When working for non-profits, every dollar counts. So, making sure all spending is done wisely is key.

When you’re not at the office, how do you spend your free time?

I enjoy spending time with my husband and two daughters. I love to travel, sing, and watch reality tv.

Jenna Bailey

Administrative Support and Member Services Specialist

What’s your role with SAHRA and how long have you worked for the association?

I will be with SAHRA for a year this coming August where I handle SAHRA member services. My duties consist of planning member events, answering phone calls and performing various other communication efforts for the association.

What did you do prior to working with SAHRA?

Prior to working with SAHRA, I worked in luxury retail before becoming a mother. I then began my career with FSB Core Strategies which introduced me to SAHRA and other associations.

What are some of the highlights and challenges you face in your role?

The highlight of my role is getting to work so closely with our members. I love seeing members engage in our programs at meetings and events. A challenge that we face is knowing exactly what our members are looking for in this association and that is we encourage input from the members.

When you’re not at the office, how do you spend your free time?

I love spending my free time with my children and family.

Will Hixson

Chapter Management Professional

What’s your role with SAHRA and how long have you worked for the association?

Since I began working for SAHRA three years ago, I’ve had the pleasure of serving the association in various capacities. I’ve assisted SAHRA with member services, communications support, and event planning. I’m currently SAHRA’s Chapter Management Professional, which is essentially the chapter’s lead staff person. In this role I manage the group’s daily operations, including member services, communications, and events. I’m responsible for facilitation of SAHRA’s Board Meetings and the implementation of SAHRA’s strategic goals. My other areas of focus include the budget and financials, and ensuring proper governance of the association.

What are some of the highlights and challenges you face in your role?

One major highlight is seeing the impact SAHRA has on many HR professionals. Whether it was a connection made, an inspiring presentation, or simply credits earned from a SAHRA webinar, I love being able to help members on their professional paths. I have also had the opportunity to meet and work with many awesome and inspiring volunteers, members, and others associated with SAHRA. One challenge we face, as do many associations, is finding out how to best serve each of our 600 members. This is why we value input from our members so much.

What does SAHRA have planned for 2018 that you are excited about?

I’m excited about the many great programs SAHRA will once again be offering, such as our educational meetings and webinars, mentor program, study groups, etc. I’m also excited for the opportunity that lies ahead with the change of location of the Annual Conference. Holding the Conference at the McClellan Center will allow us to expand on an already great event and hopefully provide some great new energy. I’m also excited to expand on our Emerging Professionals program which launched in 2017. SAHRA is holding a mixer on February 8th that will provide an opportunity for the Emerging Professionals to connect with more seasoned professionals.

When you’re not at the office, how do you spend your free time?

I wish I could list an exciting hobby here like rock climbing or archery. In reality, I have an affinity for dining and documentary watching.
