Briefly describe your organization, role, and how long you have been involved. I currently work at Bonney Plumbing, Electrical, & HVAC as the Human Resources Director. I oversee all HR functions to include M&A due diligence, recruiting, employee
relations, executive coaching, training development, benefits, and compliance.
How many years have you been in HR? What do you enjoy about the industry? Technically I have held an HR title since 2012. However I also spent 12 years in the Army and spent much of that time dealing with personnel issues, training,
on and off-boarding, discipline and policies. I absolutely love the ability I have to help people on a daily basis in HR. Plus no day is ever the same and I really enjoy that.
How long have you been involved with SAHRA? I've been a SAHRA member since 2006.
How has membership with SAHRA affected you and your career? SAHRA is an incredibly useful resource and gives me a lot of peace of mind knowing that if I run across a problem or an issue I have not faced, there is a huge network of HR
professionals out there to turn to for advice and guidance.
What challenges do you believe will face the HR industry in the future? Wow...where to begin with this. HR is an ever changing field and now even more so after the COVID-19 pandemic. I think we will see continued changes in companies
moving to more remote work and flexible work locations which will definitely be a challenge here in CA. I also think that greater political polarization will mean more changes to federal employment laws and compliance.
In your spare time, what do you do for fun? Spare time? What's that? I have 4 sons ranging from 7 to 15 who keep me pretty busy. Luckily they are all starting to share my interests as well so much of our time is taken up with sports,
scuba diving, kayaking, hiking and generally loving the outdoors.
What is one thing most of your colleagues don’t know about you? I collect watches, so if you don't actually work with me or aren't paying attention, you'll probably never see me wear the same watch twice in the same few months.
