Briefly describe your organization, role, and how long you have been involved
I am a Talent Consultant (aka HR Manager) with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. I've been an HR generalist with the firm for several years. I started my career in audit, but transitioned into HR after about 3 years, and I've not looked back! I've been with the firm going on 28 years (excluding a 6 year break). The people I work for and with are the reason why I've stayed with PwC. How many years have you been in HR? What do you enjoy about the industry?
I've been in HR for about 25 years. What I enjoy most about the industry is helping others in all aspects of their career.
How long have you been involved with SAHRA? I've been with SAHRA for approximately five years actively. I'd joined SAHRA once I had my HR credential. Honestly, I joined strictly for the recertification credits. It wasn't until Julie Worley, then President, reached out to get involved that I really committed to the Association. I am so grateful she did!
How has membership with SAHRA affected you and your career? I've built a broader network of HR peers, which I value greatly - not for what the network can do for me but for the friendships and potential friendships they offer. Taking on board roles really stretched me in a number of ways. I've increased my leadership skills and confidence, which has positively impacted my career and brand in my job.
What challenges do you believe will face the HR industry in the future? I think the continued increase and complexity of labor laws and regulations, especially with the Covid-19 impact, will continue to challenge our industry.
In your spare time, what do you do for fun? I enjoy cooking, baking, reading, walking and doing puzzles. I'm fairly boring! But I love what I do and I love being with my family while unplugging!
What is one thing most of your colleagues don’t know about you? I never planned on being an HR professional, but I'm so happy that this is where I landed.
