Lukas Clary is a shareholder in Weintraub Tobin’s Labor and Employment and Litigation practice groups.  Lukas has experience representing clients in all aspects of employment litigation.  He regularly handles claims involving allegations of workplace discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, unpaid overtime and wages, missed meal and rest periods, and class actions. Lukas also regularly counsels employers on compliance and litigation avoidance strategies, including leave management and the interactive process associated with accommodating employees with disabilities.  He also helps his clients craft employee handbooks and employment policies.

 


2020 Vision: An Offering of Practical Advice and an Overview of Pending Laws

This presentation will provide employers with practical advice on how to implement the changes that have occurred in 2019, and forecast the labor and employment law changes that are expected to occur at the state and federal levels in 2020. 


Larry Kazanjian has practiced employment law for more than 25 years and has represented employers in litigation of discrimination and wrongful termination matters. His litigation experience includes dozens of jury trials in the representation of defendants. Mr. Kazanjian’s general employment law practice involves the daily rendering of practical advice assisting clients of all sizes with employment issues including wage and hour law, harassment and discrimination, compliance with ADA/FMLA requirements, compliance with INS regulations governing I-9 forms, preparation of personnel manuals, drug/alcohol policies and other preventative measures.

 


In One Year and Out the Other: A Review of New Legislation Taking Effect in 2020

The presentation will focus on the significant new laws passed by the Legislature in 2019 that will take effect in 2020 and will impact the workplace for both employers and employees.


David Tyra, manager of the firm’s labor and employment group, represents private and public sector employers in labor and employment law actions as well as providing advice and counsel on labor and employment issues. His practice covers all aspects of labor and employment law, including wage-hour actions, employee leave matters, workplace discrimination and harassment, workplace privacy, workplace investigations, and unfair labor practice claims. His litigation experience includes representing employers in federal and state courts at the trial and appellate levels and before numerous federal and state agencies. He is an active public speaker on employment topics, having presented numerous times before civic and commercial groups.
