Mentor Program

 

Registration has closed for the Spring Mentor Program.

 

Stay tuned for more information on SAHRA's Fall Mentor Program. 

 

 

The program includes speaker led presentations from industry experts that will expand your HR body of knowledge on topics that can be quickly applied to your day to day operations.

 

Current Session: 

 

Wednesday, March 22nd – Opening Session! Meet your Mentor/Mentee!

 

Wednesday, April 12th – “Putting the “Business” in HR Business Partner”, presented by Steve Haas

 

Wednesday, May 3rd – “Crucial Accountability”, certified trainer Gabe Lewell

 

Wednesday, May 24th – “Korn Ferry Leadership Architect: Leadership Competencies”, certified trainer Helen Patton

 

Sessions will be held at the National University located in Rancho Cordova from 6:00 to 8:30. (Details to follow after registration is confirmed.)

· Re-ignite your enthusiasm for your role in our industry! Sharing your experience and knowledge can help you to feel strong and empowered and help your Mentee feel competent.

· Receive coaching in areas of development such as Employee Relations, Talent Acquisition and HR Generalist topics.

Time Commitment Requirements:

 

The monthly time commitment for the mentoring program is three to five hours per month, which includes participation in monthly group mentoring meetings and regular interaction (i.e. phone, e-mail, or in-person) with your mentor/mentee.

 

In order to participate in the program, you must:

  • Be a current SAHRA member and maintain membership for the duration of the mentoring program
  • Plan to remain actively involved in a Human Resources capacity for the entire duration of the program
  • Commit to a minimum number of meetings

Minimum requirements to be an SAHRA Mentor:

  • 5+ years in the HR profession (3 yrs. must be in an exempt role)
  • Passion for the advancement of the HR Profession
  • Demonstrated experience in progressive HR disciplines/responsibilities/leadership
  • Professional certification desired (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP)
  • Previous mentor experience a plus

Minimum requirements to be an SAHRA Mentee:

  • Currently employed in an HR role or in transition seeking a role in HR
  • Focused/determined on a long-term career in HR
