Volunteer Coordinator Responsible To:
VP Membership, Chapter

FUNCTION
To recruit, attract and retain volunteers for the SAHRA
organization, by directing them to appropriate opportunities that
are of interest to them and will help meet professional development
and networking goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Work closely with
Executive Director and Member Services Team Leader to reach out to
new members and determine their goals for membership
Partner with
Member Services team to “meet and greet” new members at SAHRA
functions
Partner with new
members to identify their interests in various SAHRA activities,
and orient them to ways they can participate, providing direction
and support as necessary to get them active
Promote
volunteerism via orientation meetings, membership meetings, HRCI
study groups, etc
Create and
promote volunteer recognition programs
Write articles
for the SAHRA newsletter related to volunteers and volunteerism –
highlight volunteers monthly
Utilize Web site
to attract, promote and recognize volunteers
Work with the
Board on succession planning and strategies
Recruit, train
and retain volunteer members for this team; plan for a successor
Attend Board
meetings as needed (minimum 2 per year)
REQUIREMENTS
Must be a SAHRA member in good standing. Current SHRM membership
preferred. Effectively facilitate meetings. Contribute to
development of strategic direction and follow through on goals and
objectives. Effective communication skills. Ability to coach,
develop and mentor volunteers. Ability to identify creative
solutions within limited resources. Ability to stay within the
budget. Plan, implement and follow through on goals and objectives.
Attend 50-75% of monthly meetings/events or assign official delegate
to promote volunteer efforts if unable to attend
TIME COMMITMENT, in
addition to Board and Monthly meetings:
Approximately 4 hours a month
