FUNCTION
Ensure that existing members are utilizing the association in the
most effective way, resulting in satisfaction, retention, and
increased involvement; work to achieve an increase in membership for
both SAHRA and SHRM.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct and support the activities of Team Leaders and
members of the following teams: Member Services, SHRM/Foundation,
and Volunteer Coordinator. Coordinate their activities to support
the chapter's mission. Recruit members to serve on these
committees
Respond to requests for information about membership
through telephone calls, personal contacts, and correspondence
Through administrative staff, notify each applicant in
writing of membership status; contact applicants from whom more
information is needed to evaluate application
Carry out ad hoc assignments of President (e.g.,
membership promotion, recommendation of membership criteria
changes, etc.)
Plan prospective member events
Obtain quarterly lists of At-Large members (SHRM
members who are not members of any chapter) in your area from your
SHRM Regional Team. Use those lists to invite At-Large members to
your chapter events
Act as a liaison between the Board of Directors and
the Team Leaders
Attend monthly membership and Board of Directors
meetings
Participate in the development and implementation of
strategic short-term and long-term planning for the chapter
Represent the chapter in the Human Resources community
Complete other
assignments as requested by the President or the Board of
Directors
Maintain and
coordinate social events that are either separate from or in
addition to monthly meetings
Edit newsletter
and provide articles as needed
Participate and
act as back-up facilitator for new member orientation

REQUIREMENTS Must be a SAHRA member in good
standing. Must be a member of SHRM. Ideally, has at least one year
experience as a Team Leader. Ability to effectively represent
organization to the community at large. Effectively facilitate
meetings. Strong leadership abilities. Ability to effectively
influence volunteers. Ability to set strategic direction. Effective
communication skills (oral, written and presentation). Ability to
attract, coach, develop and mentor volunteers. Ability to create and
monitor budgets and reports within established time frames. Must
have the ability to make creative solutions within a limited amount
of resources. Attend 50% of SAHRA events and 80% of Board
Meetings.
TIME COMMITMENT, in
addition to Board and Monthly meetings:
Approximately 8 -10 hours a month
