VP Community Outreach Job Description

Position: VP Community Outreach
Responsible To: President, Chapter Members
Direct Reports: Team Leaders of HRCI, Members-in-Transition, and Mentors

 

FUNCTION
To manage the chapter outreach efforts in the community, providing opportunities for the membership to participate; handles media affairs as needed.

 RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with Team Leaders to determine goals and objectives for the coming year; provide direction and assistance as necessary, and represent them at board meetings

  • Recommend community service projects to be supported by the chapter

  • Make chapter members aware of community organizations that would be beneficial to HR professionals or businesses

  • Provide information to chapter members about local community organizations through flyers or brochures at meetings or via newsletter articles if appropriate

  • Develop and maintain relationships with local Chambers of Commerce, United Way and/or other Nonprofits, business organizations, business news writers, and other community groups

  • Conduct team meetings as needed

  • Monitor and maintain resource budget. Submit requests for payment as expenses are incurred.

  • Provide Executive Director with updated Web site content as necessary

  • Attend Board and Chapter meetings as required

  • Edit newsletter and provide articles as needed

  • Recruit, train and retain volunteers; plan for successor for VP and Team Leader roles

  • Orient incoming Vice-President

REQUIREMENTS
Must be a SAHRA member in good standing.  SHRM membership preferred. Ability to effectively facilitate meetings. Strong leadership abilities with the ability to develop strategic direction, goals and objectives and follow-through on goals and objectives. Effective communication skills (oral, written and presentation). Ability to attract, coach, develop and mentor volunteers. Ability to stay within budget. Ability to develop creative solutions utilizing a limited amount of resources. Attend 50% of SAHRA events and 80% of Board Meetings.

TIME COMMITMENT, in addition to Board and Monthly meetings:
Approximately 5 hours a month
