Inclusion Team Leader Job Description

Position: Inclusion Team Leader
Responsible To: President-Elect, Chapter Members
Direct Reports: Team Members

 

FUNCTION
Facilitate SAHRA’s commitment to Inclusion by developing activities and initiatives that create awareness, promote understanding, provide education, celebrate differences and ensure the availability of resources that will enhance the professional and personal growth of chapter members.

 RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluate and monitor the needs and interests of the membership in the area of inclusion and act as a resource for inclusion issues – Be an expert

  • Develop and/or distribute information and materials to chapter members to promote inclusion in the workplace

  • Publicize to chapter members examples of successful inclusion efforts being undertaken by chapter members in their particular workplaces

  • Identify minorities and other individuals with diverse backgrounds in the local area who might be interested in joining the chapter

  • Identify current chapter members with diverse backgrounds who might be interested in volunteer leadership opportunities

  • Be available for presentations if and when appropriate, or help to identify both inclusion programs/speakers for conferences or chapter programs and speakers with diverse backgrounds for conferences or chapter programs

  • Coordinate efforts in developing inclusion initiatives that can serve as models for other chapters

  • Work with VP of Membership and President-Elect to improve the diversity of SAHRA’s membership and its leadership

  • Network with other chapter program leaders and/or companies and educational institutes with inclusion programs

  • Establish committee goals and monitor progress of reaching these goals

  • Conduct team meetings as needed

  • Develop informative newsletter articles and forward to SAHRA administrative office no later than the last Friday of each month

  • Compile and develop monthly report of team activities and forward to SAHRA administrative office no later than the last Friday of each month

  • Monitor and maintain resource budget. Submit requests for payment as expenses are incurred.

  • Provide Executive Director with updated Web site content as necessary

  • Attending monthly Board meetings as needed (minimum 2 for the term)

  • Recruit, train and retain volunteers; plan for successor

  • Orient new Team Leader

REQUIREMENTS
Must be a SAHRA member in good standing. Ability to effectively facilitate meetings. Strong leadership abilities with the ability to develop strategic direction, goals and objectives and follow-through on goals and objectives.  Effective communication skills (oral, written and presentation). Ability to attract, coach, develop and mentor volunteers. Ability to stay within budget. Ability to develop creative solutions utilizing a limited amount of resources.

TIME COMMITMENT, in addition to Board and Monthly meetings:
Approximately 5 hours a month
