College Resources Team Leader Job Description

Position: College Resources Team Leader
Responsible To: VP Workforce Readiness,  Chapter Members
Direct Reports: Team Members

 

FUNCTION
To provide clear guidance, counsel and mentorship service to the Human Resources Management Association (HRMA) students at California State University, Sacramento (CSUS) and to students at other Sacramento area colleges. This position actively seeks out opportunities for students to interface with HR professionals in the HR field.

 RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluate and monitor the needs and interests of HRMA and other student members

  • Serves as a liaison between the chapter and California State University, Sacramento (CSUS) and other local college students interested in professional development and involvement in the HR profession

  • Encourage and solicit the participation of university instructors, career center staff and other faculty in student development and chapter activities

  • Provide assistance to HRMA in the way of leadership development, membership, meetings, programs and chapter participation

  • Coordinate student events and activities, identify meeting topics, prepare activity materials and brochures, and coordinate mailings

  • Provide assistance to HRMA in the areas of leadership development, membership, meeting planning, program development and chapter participation

  • Promote and coordinate HRMA activities including the chapter’s scholarship award, internship opportunities, shadowing programs and HRForce

  • Arrange for student volunteers to assist with Chapter activities

  • Provide information and guidance to HRMA members concerning job searches and job opportunities, professional development, chapter and SAHRA membership and certification

  • Provide updates and information to the membership and prepares articles for the monthly newsletter, as needed

  • Establish committee goals and monitor progress of reaching these goals

  • Network with other chapter leaders

  • Conduct team meetings as needed

  • Develop newsletter articles on team activities and forward to SAHRA administrative office no later than the last Friday of each month

  • Compile and develop monthly report of activities and forward to SAHRA administrative office no later than the last Friday of each month

  • Monitor and maintain resource budget. Submit requests for payment as expenses are incurred.

  • Provide Executive Director with updated Web site content as necessary

  • Attending monthly Board meetings as needed (minimum 2 for the term)

  • Recruit, train and retain volunteers; plan for successor

  • Orient new Team Leader

REQUIREMENTS
Must be a SAHRA member in good standing. Ability to effectively facilitate meetings. Strong leadership abilities including development of strategic direction, goals, and objectives. Also the ability to follow-through on goals and objectives developed. Effective communication skills (oral, written and presentation). Ability to attract, coach, develop, and mentor volunteers. Ability to stay within budget. Ability to develop creative solutions utilizing a limited amount of resources.

 TIME COMMITMENT, in addition to Board and Monthly meetings:
Approximately 8 hours a month
