FUNCTION Actively prospects businesses inside
and outside of SAHRA to partner with on various activities, through
the development of sponsorships and other fundraising activities.
Provides sales and marketing training to board members.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Network inside and
outside of SAHRA to develop prospects for sponsorships of SAHRA
events, or other fundraising activities
Provide training
to the Board and other SAHRA members in prospecting, marketing,
and other business development essentials
Partner with the
Executive Director and other SAHRA members to develop and present
proposals to business prospects, providing follow-up and closing
as appropriate
Participate in the
development and implementation of short-term and long-term
strategy planning for the chapter
Utilize monthly
newsletter to keep membership apprised of fundraising activities,
in particular with regards to sponsorships
Recruit a team to
support all business development efforts
Develop and
monitor budgets
Attend Board and
Chapter meetings as required
Develop a “2nd”
to take the lead on certain projects and prepare to take the
Director role in the future
Orient incoming
Director and/or other volunteers as needed
REQUIREMENTS Must be a SAHRA member in good
standing. Should have a background in outside sales, including
skills in cold-calling, proposal development and presentation, and
other essentials of business development. Ability to effectively
facilitate meetings. Strong leadership abilities including
development of strategic direction, goals, and objectives. Also the
ability to follow-through on goals and objectives developed.
Effective communication skills (oral, written and presentation).
Ability to attract, coach, develop, and mentor volunteers. Ability
to stay within budget. Ability to develop creative solutions
utilizing a limited amount of resources.
Expected to attend a minimum of 80% of Board Meetings
and 50% of SAHRA events.
TIME COMMITMENT, in
addition to Board and Monthly meetings:
Approximately 10 hours per month.
